Julie David, Corporate Recruiter; with Stewart & Stevenson, LLC out of Houston,Texas and James Monroe, Military Representative for the El Paso location Stewart & Stevenson; provided a recruitment presentation to the WTC Morning Diesel Students and upcoming graduates on Monday, March 24,2008. Julie and James interviewed multiple candidates from WTC and have offered positions to several of the applicants. Thank you Julie and James and to all the WTC students who participated in the interviews. Good Luck to all of you.
The last GEPD meeting of the year will be held at our WTC Branch campus on May 6, 2008. It will include the business meeting, social and elections.
The meeting will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. We are located in the Northeast part of town at 9451 Diana Dr., El Paso, Texas 79924. Follow this link for a map to our facility. The Imagine America Foundation is awarding scholarships up to $5000.00 for Western Technical College students who are active duty, reservist. or honorably discharged veterans. The application deadline is April 25, 2008. If you are interested in more details and would like to apply, please see your program director or contact Jerry Martin, Admissions at 915-760-8123. You must be currently enrolled at WTC and graduate after 12/31/08. Must maintained a 3.5 or higher GPA and have a 95% or higher attendance record.
On Saturday February 23, 2008 Western Technical College participated in the El Paso Honda Car Show at the Convention Center downtown El Paso. It was a huge success according to Rudy Murillo, Admissions Rep who set up a booth and displayed the WTC race car from the Performance Tuner program. This is a highly modified Honda Civic, puts out 704 hp and is ready to race on the quarter mile track. It is a pro series hotrod and front wheel drive class. The welding department has made recent changes to the roll cage and added extended stabilizers to the rear to keep the car level at take off. If you would like to see this car, for more information call 532-3737. Future events are being planned to race this car locally in El Paso, take it to San Antonio and Albuquerque in the next few months. Rich Walker, Program Director for the Performance Tuner program can be reached at the 532-3737 number and invites everyone to come check this car out!
Western Technical College is proud to announce that we are the main sponsor for the 4/1 Cav's family fun day. There will be food, live bands, and entertainment center for the children, rock walls, obstacle course and much more. WTC awards $1000 scholarship to all military veterans and their dependents. All WTC staff and faculty are invited to come out on March 8, 2008 and volunteer to say "Thank You!" to the soldiers and family of the 4/1 CAV.

Due to the scheduling conflicts of the CBCS testing I would like all past graduates still interested in taking the certification exams throguh AHIMA to contact Jennifer Walker @ (915) 231-4917.
