WTC Wins “Best Little Website On The Border” at Biztech!
On Thursday, October 19, WTC accepted a great honor by receiving the Best Little Website on the Border Award (link to article) by the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at the Biz Tech Executive Luncheon. One word explains the development behind the WTC website…Lumenbrite! Roman J Villarreal of Lumenbrite Training says, “We wanted to build a website for Western Technical College that would be interactive and cutting-edge, but very informative and easy to use. When the blogs portion was built, the intent was to create a means of communication with departments and students. The blogs would also serve as a means to add fresh content leveraging the experience and talent of the instructional staff.”
Jerry Martin, WTC Director of Admissions expands on the history of the creation of the site through a recent blog stating that almost 8 years ago, it was a very basic static site that WTC hoped would generate a forum for people to peek at the campus and ask questions. “A couple of years later, we were able to hire a website company to develop a new site that would get us on the search engines,” says Martin. He continues,“Later I was introduced to Lumenbite, Inc here in El Paso.We had a meeting and discussed our vision, future and where we wanted the site to go. Not only did they have intiative and creativity, but the software is cutting edge and no one else was using alot of Flash, Macromedia, and Breeze presentation stuff. I took a chance and never looked back.”
Villareal says, “WTC's staff has been great with accepting new concepts for their site to not only boost lead generation, but to also give back to the community and their alumni/student body. It has been a pleasure working with a progressive school that really embraces new technologies.”
“There are alot of people who have contributed and this has taken the site to another level. Western Technical College staff and faculty members have started taking pride in their site and blogs. It gives them something to participate in every day,” says Martin. WTC thinks this, is key in creating the best little website on the border! Check out Lumenbrite at www.lumenbrite.com
